New Cost-Saving Chip for VoIP Devices Unveiled May 26th, 2008 by S. Caron STMicroelectronics has released a new SPEAr configurable System on-Chip IC that uses low-power 65 nm process technology. THe SPEAr Basic can be used in a variety of devices including VoIP equipment. The processor, which is $6 for quantities greater than 20,000, is a cost-saving chip that can shorten the time to market with its flexibility. It has an ARM926EJ-S processor core and two 16k memory caches that run at 333MHz.
